I always wanted to be a games programmer and a rock star. That didn’t happen. Here’s the real story.

I became fascinated with the online world when I was a teenager. I hadn’t yet heard of the Internet. Most people hadn’t. This was back in ‘93.

My obsession at this time was the BBS. I racked up hundreds of dollars in phone bills every month dialing up every BBS in the old NSW list - BBSFNSW.TXT. Eventually my parents got sick paying the bills and when
I mentioned I wanted to start a BBS, it clicked, they would save themselves hundreds if everyone called me.

A few weeks later “The Ultimate” BBS was born. I met some great friends through that, some I’m still in touch with today.

To my parents dismay, six months later I had caught the internet bug and they were paying $5 an hour + phone calls for me to use it. How fantastic it was though, like a thousand bulletin boards all strung together.

That’s the story of how I got hooked on the Interweb. I’ve been living and breathing it ever since.
